Election of 1896 William McKinley Coffins/Talked to Death Buttons

President:William McKinley
Vice President:Garret Hobart
Year:1896
Party:Republican
Colors:Metallic, Variety of Colors
Sizes:Variety of Sizes
Theme:Coffins/Talked to Death
Tagline:Talked to Death, Free Silver Knocked Him Out

These buttons and pins may be in the shape of a coffin or have a depiction of a coffin. Sometimes they will read “Talked to Death”. This was meant to be a joke, as apparently many voters were sick and tired of hearing about the issues of the Election of 1896. Others play on the silver/gold issue and are anti-Bryan, such as a coffin reading “Free Silver Knocked Him Out”. These are relatively rare and certainly interesting for a collection.
