Dwight Eisenhower

Born:1890
Died:1969
Political Party:Republican
Offices Held:President (1953 - 1961)
Dwight Eisenhower was the 34th President of the United States, serving two terms. Eisenhower was a generally likeable person and was a well-respected World War 2 General. Eisenhower’s nickname was “Ike”, and there are a lot of items – specifically campaign materials – that incorporate this. Eisenhower buttons are readily available to collectors. His buttons generally have a positive feel evocative of 1950’s culture, and many of the buttons have a cartoony, campy feel to them. There is a good supply of buttons from both campaigns, including of jugates. Most of Eisenhower's buttons won't be worth a whole lot (though there certainly are exceptions), but his buttons are fun, nostalgic, and highly collectable, especially for those looking to build a large collection. Eisenhower fans should be able to find a good amount of other memorabilia such as posters or other more “modern” campaign items. Because of the relative recentness of his Presidency, signed items should also be given consideration. 1952 National Republican Convention Ticket Prices Signature
Eisenhower typed most of his letters and used secretaries and copying devices to varying degrees. Some of his letters as president were drafted. His personal letters are most easily identifiable as his own than formal correspondence. Formal letters are signed “Dwight D. Eisenhower” and personal letters are signed “Ike” or “D.E.”. There are a number of charming personal letters to his wife, Mamie.
