Lyndon B. Johnson was the 36th President of the United States, serving after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Johnson campaign memorabilia should be easy for collectors to find because of the recentness of his presidency. Most pieces will be well priced. President Johnson had a beautiful state china service created during his administration. Lady Bird Johnson was heavily involved in the selection of the service 1966. She worked with Tiffany's to find the perfect designer and manufacturer. This service features a wildflower motif, as well as lots of gold and pink. Over 40 different kinds of flowers are featured. A gold dot design is used as a border, and the seal in the center of the plate is based on that of James Monroe's service. It is unlikely, however, that collectors will find an original piece of this china for sale, though duplications exist. Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential China Signature
The large majority of Lyndon Johnson’s letters are typed and also most are signed by secretaries. His secretaries could recreate his signature and handwriting very well, so it is very hard to authenticate Johnson material. One way to tell a Johnson letter is real is to look for a period following the “B” middle initial underneath the letter. More of his post-presidential materials will be actually signed by Johnson himself.
